Information You Submit
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered in a search box are sent to the outside provider that supplies those results. Brooklyn Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains only the information included in that message, which is used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Like most hosted services, the site receives routine server-log information, such as an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time stamps. We review aggregated activity to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where used.
How Limited Data Is Used
Technical and contact data helps operate the service, resolve errors, measure general traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
External Services and Links
Links may lead to New York City, Kings County, New York State, library, archive, and third-party search services. The receiving service’s own privacy policy controls information provided there. That includes sponsored search results supplied by a third party.
Who Can Process It
Hosting and support providers process the technical logs needed to run the service. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. Information is otherwise disclosed only when valid legal process requires it.
Safeguards
The service uses an encrypted connection and retains logs only for the operational purposes described here. No site account, password, or visitor profile is created, so those account data types are not held by this service.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent us information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Privacy Choices
You may ask about personal information this service keeps by using the Contact page. Because the service keeps little beyond limited logs and contact messages, requests normally concern those sources. New York’s SHIELD Act, General Business Law §§899-aa and 899-bb, addresses safeguards and breach notification for covered data holders; the research located no statewide right to remove an address from every public record. Records held by New York City, Kings County, or New York State custodians remain under their separate correction, sealing, confidentiality, or redaction procedures.
Policy Changes
A revised policy will appear on this page. Continued use after a revision indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
